Dr. Powell

Dr. Powell is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, class of 1982. He completed a Residency Program in Internal Medicine at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia in 1985. As part of the US Public Health Services Corp, National Health Services Scholarship Program, Dr. Powell began work in Prichard Alabama.

Dr. Powell completed his Public Health Services in Butner, North Carolina and Seagoville, Texas. His work as an Emergency Medicine Physician began with Coastal Emergency Medicine Services in 1986.

Dr. Powell has served in many leadership positions including Medical Director of Lee County EMS Service, and Medical Director of Central Carolina Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr. Powell is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and is currently certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

He is a member of the Association of Physician Specialists and the Lee County Medical Society.

Dr. Powell is fulfilling his dream of delivering quality medical services to this community through Pittsboro Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine Center.

Dr. Hargett

Dr. Franklin Hargett is a native of North Carolina, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. His background includes internship in General Surgery at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. and Residency in Family Medicine and Fellowship in Geriatrics at East Carolina University Department of Family Practice.

Dr. Hargett was a faculty member at ECU school of medicine and later at UNC school of Medicine. In 1996, Dr Hargett joined the Sanford Sandhills Emergency Physicians group. He and Dr. Powell managed the Emergency Department at Central Carolina Hospital until February 2007.  Pittsboro Care and Occupational Medicine Center was developed with the hope of presenting Pittsboro and the surrounding communities and businesses a true alternative to the services now available in the area.

Dr. Hargett is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He has special interest in trauma, geriatrics, laboratory medicine and work related illnesses and injury. Dr. Hargett is the Laboratory Medical Director for Pine Ridge and Pittsboro Urgent Care clinics meeting and exceeding CLIA laboratory standards through COLA Laboratory Accreditation with education, training, and evaluation of Laboratory staff.

 


Marshall Putnam, PA-C

Marshall Putnam, PA-C is certified by the National Commision of Certification of Physican Assistants (NCCPA) and has experience as a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine at five (5) Hospital Emergency Departments since 2001. He has a Masters of Physicians Assistant Studies in Emergency Medicine from the University of Nebraska and graduate of East Carolina University Physician Assistant Studies with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Services, and also Bachelor of Science from Methodist College in Microbiology and Cell Physiology.

Mr. Putnam has been trained and worked with Dr. Powell and Dr. Hargett since 2001 in Emergency Medicine. He joined Pittsboro Urgent Care and Pine Ridge Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine Centers in 2012. He is an experienced Physician Assistant in emergency medicine, urgent care, and family medicine clinics. He has Family Medicine experience with two family clinic organizations prior to joining Pittsboro Urgent Care and Pine Ridge Urgent Care.

Mr. Putnam, PA-C has examined and treated infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with a variety of medical conditions and trauma injuries. He is trained and experienced to preform medical procedures and surgery procedures associated with ermergency and urgent care settings.

Our Laboratories are accredited by COLA Laboratory Accreditation and Mr. Putnam, PA-C brings 25 years of Clinic Laboratory experience to the group as the laboratory technical supervisor and is a certified laboratory Medical Technologist (MT) and Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).


 

Gail Collins R.N.

 

Gail Collins R.N. is the Director of Nursing and Office Manager. She has 22 years of experience in the Emergency Department. Gail is known for her compassion and natural caring. “I enjoy working with all patients and my goal is to always treat patients and their families with the utmost care, dignity and respect”.
